Nicki Minaj, Maluma, Myriam Fares release World Cup anthem ‘Pump It’
NICKI MINAJ, Maluma, Myriam Fares are set to release their World Cup anthem “Pump It” this Sunday (June 7), after their performance at the French Grand Prix’s French Grand Prix. The trio will be joined in the song by French rapper and singer Yannick Noah and US rapper and producer Drake. The singer’s co-production team will also be joining Nicki and Maluma in the song’s production.
The trio’s rendition of the original charted at No. 1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 (1 week at No. 1) and the UK’s Official Singles Chart upon the release. Minaj’s “Pump It” remix also reached #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart for one week, and in total charted in the Top 10 of the Hot 100 and the UK’s Official Singles Chart for 10 weeks. The song’s digital sales outsold Drake’s previously released single “Hotline Bling” which had not officially been released for sale before June 7.
The single follows an announcement from Minaj and her label Roc Nation, in which they announced their fourth and fifth releases, including Minaj’s fifth album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. Minaj’s first single from Roman Reloaded, “Do Me,” debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Songs chart.
Drake’s “Hotline Bling,” which was released in April, also debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, while its remix by Zomboy, “Hotline Bling Remix,” debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs Chart for one week. The song has been certified Platinum in the United States, with sales of 1,000,000 in that country only.
Also announced during today’s event was Myriam Fares
