Colin Farrell doesn’t have many ‘true friends.’ But Brendan Gleeson is one of his best, and when they’re the only two characters in the film we’re all there for them. For the first act of Black Swan, the character is just a guy from Chicago who is trying to find his place in the world. Until the film’s second act introduces his best ‘true friend’ to help him find his place in the world. So Colin and Brendan start flirting and the whole world seems to be on a mission to get them together. Then we get to the point when everything between them is going to change.
I loved playing the character of Jamie, both in his short stint as an understudy and in the entire film. I loved playing the role of the other guy – Brendan Gleeson – and I loved the chemistry he was with Colin Farrell, so much so that I don’t think I will ever be able to picture myself playing the actual actor. I have no idea who Colin Farrell is and I have no idea who Brendan Gleeson is, and I’m always in love with the guy they are playing. You can see the two of them together in the beautiful scene in the swimming pool, I mean, it’s beautiful and it’s funny, but at the same time it’s very emotional too.
With the music in the film, I was a little nervous because I had never done it before – I mean, I’ve had a couple of small parts playing violin, but that was it. To be a part of this beautiful song and to actually play it, it has been a really great experience to be a part of this project. I always get a little excited when you get a project that involves me – I always tell the kids that “I’m going to be a part of a movie someday.” So to get to have that opportunity with my music and to get to play it in that way was really exciting. The soundtrack is fantastic and the song itself is great,
