Twitter reinstates Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene as House minority leader
CALIFORNIA — California State Senator Elizabeth Warren, who has already made the leap from liberal activist to presidential prospect, has picked up a few more endorsements from her home state.
Warren, who is mulling a possible presidential run in 2020, was endorsed by the state’s congressional delegation, both Democratic and Republican, on Monday.
The New York Times reported that “two Republican legislators who are close to the governor” — Assemblyman Jim Frazier and Assemblyman Travis Allen — “emphasized in a letter to Mr. Warren that the governor would welcome their endorsement.”
The letter was signed jointly by Rep. Paul Fong, of San Francisco, and Assemblyman Jim Frazier, of Yuba City, and endorsed Warren for minority leader. The pair will also appear with Warren at a public forum in San Francisco, set for Thursday.
Both Assemblymen are seen by observers as potential 2020 presidential prospects for their state.
“Elizabeth Warren has proven herself to be an exceptional leader in the Senate and a serious threat to Democrats across the country,” Fong said in the letter. “At a time when our country’s public schools appear to have lost their way, she is determined to create an improved system for children and families in every community within California. Elizabeth and I are ready to lend our support to your 2020 campaign.”
Warren received the endorsement as lawmakers, including Fong and Frazier, were meeting in Sacramento, to discuss the next steps for Warren’s campaign for the state’s top office.
