Serena Williams teases return to competitive tennis, says Tom Brady ‘started a really cool trend’
For Serena Williams and Tom Brady, it appears this match will always have the star-crossed lovers connection.
Serena Williams, 37, has been linked with Brady since her run with Venus and Serena at Wimbledon, but Brady has never ruled anything out and recently appeared to open up about feelings for the tennis star.
Brady, 30, made his first appearance on the topic on Monday, telling CNN’s Jake Tapper he’s “always loved Serena from when I was a little kid.”
“I don’t know what to tell you. I honestly think she was put in a position that people didn’t want her to be,” he added.
“I think people don’t want her to be exposed … I think there’s a lot of truth to it and for whatever reason, I just have such a connection with the woman, I just feel so strongly about it,” he said.
“I’ve watched her grow up. I’ve watched her compete. I’ve watched her play. I’ve watched her play tennis like it was my own. She is not an easy person. She is not an easy woman, I’ll just give you that. But she’s one of the greatest people I know, and I just think she deserves to play the sport she loves and you know, that’s what I’ll always, always do.”
As for Brady, he’s happy to talk about his feelings for Williams, who has not competed against him in seven years due to pregnancy. Williams’ comments came after the former pro told a fan of Williams, who wore a dress in her WTA tournament opener against No. 1 Angelique Kerber.
